About

Why Go Workout Mom?

After having children, I spent a good two years searching for the best time to really, really start working out. I needed a cheerleader to get me back into shape. I had the knowledge and the experience to make fitness a priority in my life, but I had not taken action. By creating a blog that offers Moms a journey to pursue their own physical fitness, I hope to establish a community of moms to support and cheer each other on to a healthy lifestyle.

Go Workout Mom includes:cheer.jpg

Who Am I?

Cindy Posey & Little MonkeyMy name is Cindy Posey. I am the mom chasing after our toddling daughter (Little Monkey), 3 year old son (Little Man), calling our Giant Schnauzer (Utah) back into the yard after she’s chased the neighbor’s cat, and training our new kitty (Zina The Warrior Kitty) how to use a toilet! I’ve almost forgotten what life was like before children. Oh, yes, that’s right—I was married seven years ago to my wonderful husband, Ryan. We met on a road trip in 1999 after Christmas Break. I graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in History. We moved four times in seven years. I saw Italy, France, Spain, Isreal, Croatia, Turkey, Greece, South Korea and lived in Japan for two years. As for the rest of my memory, I think, it’s still recovering from back to back pregnancies. Ryan and I completed our Naval Service in 2005 and settled down in Nashville, TN.

I love to read books. I’m addicted to television. I was solely devoted to 24 two years ago, but now my viewing needs have expanded to Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol (how could people not have voted for Melinda?!), Heroes, and House. I like to listen to music, but I am terrible when it comes to remembering the lyrics and who sang what.

I have been involved in sports and physical activities ever since I was a child. My first memories consist of kickball on the street with my cousins, riding bikes, walking to school and roller skating. I progressed to basketball, volleyball, running (the Marine Corps Marathon was the highlight of my running career) and aerobics. I love strength training and am currently training to run a 5K. You want to know more about me? I’m honored. You’re in luck–one of the hardest assignments I was given was this series:

My Life Journey, Part 1:November 1977-May 1996

My Life Journey, Part 2:July 1996-May 2000

My Life Journey, Part 3: June 2000-May 2005

My Life Journey, Part 4: May 2005-Present

I received my Physical Fitness Specialist (PFS) certification in 2003 while stationed in Sasebo, Japan. The Cooper Institute is well established in the physical fitness world. They’ve recently begun to offer one of the seven nationally recognized Physical Trainer Certifications. I completed my studies and upgraded my PFS to the Personal Trainer Certification.  On December 7th, 2007, I became a Certified Personal Trainer.  I hope to help you turn your lifestyle into a fit and healthy one amongst the commotion of raising children, home and work!
