Cleared by the Physician?
By Cindy | July 5, 2007
Even though I see my OB/GYN once a year, she doesn’t bring up physical activity unless I bring up the subject. Physicals conducted regularly are a great form of “preventative” maintenance for the body? I was fortunate to go through the military system and be subject to routine physicals and check ups. Physical Fitness was always discussed. If you haven’t had a physical in the last five years, I highly recommend it. The best news is when there is no news, right? Discuss family’s medical history. Become familiar with heart rate, cholesterol levels (HDL and LDL), and blood pressure numbers. We’ll discuss those in a later post. By understanding the body, the physical fitness plan will be tailored to practical goals and expectations.
Questions to consider:
1. When did I last talk to my physician about physical fitness?
2. Am I cleared to be physically active or do I have medical limitations to consider?
3. Do I have any Risk Factors for Heart Disease?
