Body Clutter Mission: Anger

By Cindy | January 2, 2008

“No amount of whining, pining, anger, or self-abuse is going to change what happened in the past. Today is a new day, a new beginning, and a new way of living, free of the guilt because you have made the choice to forgive. I am not saying that you have to forget, but you don’t have to constantly dwell on the mistakes of your past” (Cilley, 60).

Do you have someone you are angry with? Write down why you are mad and get it out of you. Write hard and fast!

No. I don’t carry grudges and let most things roll off my back. My anger and frustration toward people are usually short-lived. I am hardest on myself. I don’t forget nor forgive the mistakes that I make. I’ll replay an action or failure over and over in my mind trying to figure out better ways to have dealt with the situation. Here’s a sample of what goes through my mind:

“How come I can’t eat right? I know what I need to do. Why do I get lazy and not want to workout everyday! How come I can’t keep a clean house? Why do I get upset with Asher and Stephanie. How can I let them press my buttons? Why can’t Ryan help in the house? How can he not see what needs to be done?

However, by the evening, I’m hugging those beautiful little munchkins and sharing quiet time with my husband. Who really cares about the house? But as I’m falling asleep, I’ll replay all the things I didn’t get around to doing in the day!

The questions come from the Body Clutter Journal Missions in Body Clutter: Love Your Body, Love Yourself by Marla Cilley and Leanne Ely, page 65.

Do you contain anger?
