Dancing With the Stars Segment Workout
By Cindy | March 23, 2008
How did you enjoy your workouts last week? It turned out to be quite a nice challenge. With 6 couples each night, the breakdown was anywhere from 60-120 couch push ups, 12 minutes of cycling, and 60-120 pile squats! Were you able to complete 20 reps a dancer? This week, let’s break the routines down by segments between commercials. Cycle through the five segments and enjoy the dances. Here you go:
Segment #1: In-place In-line Skating. Shift your weight from one foot to the other similar to inline skating. Your weight should shift from side to side.
Segment #2: Hula Hoop Hip Action. Have you recently tried to keep a hula hoop up? Mimicking the motions is tough. If these ladies can hula hoop a half-marathon, then there’s no reason why we can’t shake it for three or four minutes!
Segment #3: 4 Step V-Step. Start with feet together. Step forward with right foot wide followed by the left foot wide. Return right foot, then left foot together. Alternate or continue the pattern then shift lead leg.
Segment #4: Knee Up Elbow Twist. Lift up left knee and touch right elbow to knee. Alternate legs and arms.
Segment #5: Alternating Lunges. With or without weights, there’s always room for forward or reverse (take steps back) lunges!
Change segments after each commercial break. With a two hour show on Monday and follow on results show, you can complete close to 2 hours of aerobic movement in two evenings. Dances and Commercials are break times.
Have a great workout!

Hula thru a half?! OMG! I am just hoping to make it to finish!
Bowing–Good deadlifts, MizFit!!! Thanks.
I’m with you MomWeightLoss. Since I plan on running this half, I just hope that I’m not passed by a Hula Hooping Gal. I’ve tried keeping a Hula Hoop up for two minutes and that’s a challenge enough for me!
