Housecleaning Workout Tip: Dusting
By Cindy | September 17, 2007
Dusting is one of the hardest things for me to do on a consistent basis. Are you an avid duster? I avoid it until I see tiny fingerprint designs in the furniture. Why is it that I become so self-conscious of the dust when I’m sitting and chatting with a visitor. It’s the only time that I see the house through a haze of the tiny specks invading the air. I never notice them as I’m sitting in the house with the family.
Anyway, dusting is a necessity that some have mastered and others, well, we get to it when we can, right? My form of working out during these dusting marathons is twofold. One, I’ll move quickly around the house trying to hit every surface. Stretching is also easy to incorporate into dusting activities. With your duster or rag, reach up high for those slightly taller surfaces. By turning up the music, adding a few cha-cha-cha’s or dancing feet and you’ll conquer each room.
Dusting is definitely a chore, but combined with a full house attack, it can become a full scale workout. Keep moving, dash around the house, and reach up high. Before you know it the dusting will be complete and you’ll collapse on the couch with a cold glass of water. Mission Accomplished: Workout and Housecleaning knocked out in one session!
