Housecleaning Workout Tip: Speed Dash Clutter Pick Up
By Cindy | November 18, 2007
Okay, this is the week of frantic clean up and Thanksgiving preparations. I don’t expect many of us will have the time to make trips to the gym or dedicate ourselves to a completely focused workout. If you’re hosting, then you’re close to panic mode about having a large group of family members enter the home. If you’re traveling, then you’re frantically checking your lists and running around the house with orders in hand. It’s okay. Take a deep breath and make your cleaning routines your workout routines. Incorporate all the tips that I’ve been sharing in every daily routine you do. You’ll be amazed at how effective the tips are combined into your Holiday Mass Frenzy. Traveling or not, you’re still forced to complete the housework. If you’re traveling, then a clean home to return to is a blessing in itself. If you’re hosting, then savor the fact that you’ve maximized your time to complete housework and workouts in one!
Here’s a list of tips:
Newest Addition:
Speed Dash Clutter Pick Up
- Grab a small shoe box or laundry basket. Go through a room and pick up anything that needs to go to a different room. Fill your little box and put all the things away in their proper place.
- Grab a garbage bag and pick up all the things that need to go to the trash. Old newspapers, collected magazines and clutter that no longer fills a place in your home. Speed off to the trash can to remove the trash from your home.
- Have another box or bag handy for items ready to be given away. If you no longer need an item or really don’t have a good purpose for it to stay, then place it in this box.
- You may focus on one room at a time or one level of the house. Then when you go to put things away in their proper place, do so at a faster pace than your typical walk around the house. Jog up the stairs. Speed walk around the rooms and house. Stay focused on decluttering. Attempt to make this your 30 minute aerobic workout. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll be able to accomplish!

Hello Kelly–Yep, I also find that I don’t dread the chores quite as much, even though I still find myself avoiding the housework.
