I did have a pretty good race, thanks. I managed to train through the race, as last week was my highest mileage week since graduating from college (71.5 miles run.)
The race went pretty well. I ran around 5 or 6 miles of it with Molly Taber, who will be competing in the Olympic Marathon Trials in April. She had gotten a bit ahead of me at mile 9 when we hit the wind, so when I caught up to her I offered to break the wind for her. She should have taken me up on the offer; I ran the time she was looking for and since she didn’t go with me she wound up finishing about a minute or so short of her goal.
I should have been the insurance man on my team, but one of our faster guys hadn’t quite recovered from being ill a week ago as he thought and fell apart. Oh well, that’s why we run the races.
I ran 76:30, about a 5:50/mile pace over 13 miles, and was 92nd out of 1666 finishers (not quite top 5%.) My team was 5th, was beat by 4th place by only 30 seconds, and could have easily gotten 2nd place if our 6th guy had run what needed. At least I managed to catch and pass a lot of people in the windy and uphill sections near the end, and even outsprint some folks.
This week I’m due for a cut back week. I want to make sure that I recover from the race since my next marathon is now less than 2 weeks away, and I’m due for a cutback week either this week or next week anyway. I’ll aim for running in the low/mid 50s this week.
Oh my goodness! Thank you very much!
I’m going to be smelling very sweet!
I accomplished my goal. I exercised 5 days a week anywhere between 30-45 minutes. Some days were harder than others, but overall I’m very glad I did it! Once I got going, I was fine. It’s right before exercising that seems to be the most challenging!
I’m going for the same goal this week. With Easter weekend coming up, I’ll be visiting my parents and lots of food!
Thanks again!
one week goal? yoga/meditation 3 times.
a healthly does of silence and just being—-no matter how I have to “find it”

This one’s from Lynn:
I did my workout routine again this week… it’s strange, that 20 minutes a day seems so much less workout than 30 minutes every other day. We get to the end of the 8 minute upper body toning and I’m like “Oh, is that it?”
The stamina build up from doing the workouts has helped in other areas of my life. I’m able to clean my house a lot more thoroughly in less time than I used to (of course, that may be that I’m doing it more often… does this clutter make my butt look fat? NO MORE! Clutter, shoo!) And my husband and I played about 45 minutes of tennis on Friday. We probably would have played more, but I managed to beam our daughter in the head with a tennis ball and nothing would cheer her up except going over to the other side of the park to ‘go slide.’ Still, 45 minutes isn’t bad!
I also got almost all my oils in this week. I missed one on Saturday when I was at a cookout with my friends…
This week my goal is to get a walk in on the weekend. My husband and I have been walking 3 nights a week, but now we’re walking 2 nights a week, and playing tennis one. But with Saturday being my yoga day, that’s all the exercise I’m getting over the weekend, and Monday just comes up and clobbers me on the head, running around getting my house in order again, and then workout. I think two days of rest is a little too much, and then it makes monday so much harder.
I have a second goal for this week. I didn’t lose any this week (second week in a row I’ve been exactly the same weight… honestly, how does that work, since I was in different clothes??)
Anyway, I’m doing weight watcher’s core plan this week, so my goal is to stick to core foods all week and stop counting points for a while, to shake things up.
Same goals for each week. Get a core workout everyday. My back needs it. I am only as strong as my weakest muscle.
Alright, I’ll try for more accountability (since obviously blogging to the world hasn’t been *enough* for me quite yet!).
My goal for this week is exercise. I promised C my trainer that I would hit the gym three times and do some kind of workout each day. So far so good for me
Here I am! I did okay eating my fruits and veggies last week – I got up to four every day, five a couple of days. So my goal for this week is the same. So far I’m doing okay with it!
I actually did!!
it was MizFititation in that I squeezed it in where I could BUT I felt farfar calmer afterward and was reminded (again) that it need not be anything structured to rejuvenate & calm me.
thanks for the prodding.
