I haven’t worked out since last Monday! I came down with the flu on Tuesday and am still feeling ill. I’ve had The Worst Sore Throat of My Entire Life for the last five days. It feels like there’s a tennis ball with razors sticking out in there. My doc did a throat culture today so I’ll find out tomorrow if it’s strep. At this point, I’m almost hoping that it is so that I can start taking the antibiotics and know that I’ll feel better soon!
In the meantime, working out and eating right have gone out the window. I’ve had three diet sodas today alone because it helps me get food down. Hopefully I’ll feeling better SOON, so my goal is to get back on the horse and do *some* kind of workout every day once I start feeling better.
My first time on goal call Monday – this week I’m aiming to do 45 minutes of exercise 4 days out of the week. I’m not always consistent about the frequency of exercise, and I’ve gotten out of step the past few weeks. It’s time to step it up so I can get on towards my weight and fitness goals!
Back to the 40s or 50s in mileage…yeah, about that…a little bit of off math and the mileage kinda snuck up on me and I actually ran over 60 miles last week. Oh well, I felt good.
This week I have two prime workouts to concentrate on. Tonight I want to do mile repeats at goal race pace, and Saturday I want to get a good long run in before I head down to Boston to watch the Olympic Trials and the marathon on Sunday/Monday. Mileage should be in the 60s and may get as high as 70 miles, although I’m not too concerned with the total. Next week I’ll start tapering.
Well, I did six workouts this week, just not on six different days… I missed Wednesday’s workout because I was recovering from a root canal and subsequent bad reaction to the same (I was doing my Tuesday walk, after the root canal just fine, and I suddenly got the HIVES and ended up having to walk home covered in itchy welts! EXCITING!)
So, walk on Tuesday and Thursday, I did weights on Friday (for an extra 10 minutes over my normal 20), plus did some vigorous cleaning (scrubbing fingerprints and crayola off the living room walls!), and a walk on Friday. Saturday we went down to the park and walked for an hour or so, plus played with the child on the jungle gym, and Monday I did another 30 minutes of weights.
My iPod is out for delivery today, so my new plan is to start the Couch to 5K program. I’ve already got the podcast downloaded, I just need the iPod, and I’m ready to start tomorrow. The plan is to get up when my husband’s alarm starts going off, and do the run before he’s ready to leave for work in the morning (he’s a snooze button smacker, so there’s like 90 minutes in between first alarm and leaving the house, which should be enough for a 25 minute run/walk, right?) So, my goal for this week is to do Couch to 5K on Wednesday, Friday and Monday. If I don’t fall over and die from this, I also plan to continue doing the 30 minutes of weights, twice a week. (Plus the three times a week of walking that I do with my husband…)
A sub-goal of this is to try on my size 16 jeans and see if I can squeeze into them! (Since I found them while cleaning out the closet this weekend!)
i’m back and I need to stop the night snacking!! So…for at least 4 nights this week I am going to skip the evening snack. wish me luck!
Well, this week my goal isn’t necessarily fitness/nutrition-related; it perhaps fits in more with the stress/health category! I’ve got to clean the house! I usually get the cleaning done on the weekends, but I’ve been away a couple weeks visiting family (Easter one weekend, niece’s christening another), and I’m still playing catch up.
Vacuuming, ironing, laundry, organizing/reducing the piles of papers in this room where I’m typing! I suppose all of that could make for a good workout though!
There’s also a pile of dishes downstairs in the kitchen to clean, but that’s Hubby’s job!
I did okay. I am now trying to ear small amounts of good food throughout the day. Thanks for the motivation. Cindi
STOP THE SNACKING, too!
Hey girl! Was out of town last week. I’ll participate tomorrow. But just wanted to check in and see how *your* week has gone. Hope you’re having a healthy one!
Happy Monday! Yes, thanks, I am feeling better. My next goal is to exercise. My problem is I have osteo arthritis in both knees. DO you have any suggestions for low impact exercise for the benefit of my knees?
I appreciate it. Cindi
