Last week I ran about 115km (~71 miles) and got two good speed sessions in. My Wednesday workout got derailed a little when a teammates key jumped out of his pocket and hit me and we both stopped to look for it, so instead of a steady state tempo run I wound up racing to catch up. Yesterday I got in a great solo track workout, though. Ran about 3 miles warm up with my wife to the track, whereupon she took off for her long run and I ran 12×400m repeats (mostly in the mid 70s) with a 200m walk/jog between each. Cooled down with my wife, got in 3 miles of speedwork and about 10.5 miles total for the day.

This week, I’ll see how I feel on Wednesday for how serious of a speed workout I do. I spent most of yesterday afternoon sleeping after the track workout wore me out, but I should be recovered by then. My goal is going to be a good Saturday morning workout at a local 5k, where I should be able to run sub-17:00 without too much trouble if I’m where I think that I am. Mileage should be consistent, 100-115km (60-70 miles).

Post vacation is TOUGH! I’m hoping to find my groove again this week, but will be kind to myself and I continue to ease back into the swing of “it all”. I’m going for 2 runs this week and 2 walks to the park with the kids. With a full plate in the evenings most of the week, this should be a challenge, but do-able.

Congrats to Blaine for all of those great miles - and how great to share some of them with the wife!

So, last week I finally conquered my fears and took my first spin class.

Thankfully I found a wonderful spin instructor, Sharon, who quickly put me at ease, helped me to get set-up correctly on the bike, and gave me helpful tips throughout the class.

So, how did I do? Eh. I managed to stay on the bike for the entire 45 minutes, but definitely had problems standing out of the saddle for an extended period of time.

How did I like it? Loved it! As I said, the instructor was awesome, the music rocked and the 45-minutes flew by.

How did I feel the next day? As long as I was standing and not moving, pretty good.

Overall, I found spinning exhilarating and will definitely be adding this class to my weekly workout regime. Sharon assured me that after roughly a month of training my legs and core will become stronger, enabling me to stand on the bike for a longer period of time. I’ll look forward to that and train hard to get to that point.

The lesson learned over this past month is that to grow we need to get out of our comfort zone. This may mean something as simple as trying a new exercise class or as life changing as leaving a job to follow your passion.

Train hard; stay strong.

My goals for this week:
I will go to Turbo Kick class 3 times this week.
I will go to Spin class 2 times this week.

I will make it a goal to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day this week.

Last week I didn’t accomplish much so I need to get back into the swing of things.

Have a great week everyone. And congrats JoLynn!

Great idea! I just started focusing on weekly goals. I’ve got a few this week but the one main one I will feel good to accomplish is completing Week Four of the One Hundred Pushups Challenge.

I’m back! I just joined Weight Watchers this week and figured it would be a good time to start listing my goals here again. This week, I just want to get the hang of the points thing. I’ve never done WW before, so even though I had a basic idea of how the plan works, I still have to learn the details and find a tracking system that works for me. So that’s my goal for this week. Thanks, Cindy!

Oh my gosh Cindy, thank you!! :)

And guess what - I did reach my goal I set for myself last week, which was basically to refocus.

I’m doing an experiment on myself now also, started it on Sunday, it’s the 6-Day Mini Makeover by Michael Thurmond. It has guidelines, which I wrote about on Monday, and it’s something I’ve never done ever since I first purchased my 6WBMO kit back in 2004.

So, my goal is to see it through, and so far all is going great. I’ve also gotten in 2 sculpting sessions and 2 cardio sessions already, and my experiment runs through Friday, and on Sat I’ll go back to my normal way of eating per the 6WBMO.

I’ll give ya an update next week. Congratulations to everyone here who keeps going for their goals and staying accountable each Monday!

I only got in one day of Pilates & I didn’t get in any walks (hot & muggy with a road that was freshly oiled last week-very messy!) I did enjoy a couple of days of “kitchen dancing” though to some CD’s I played :)
This week I am going to stick with the 2 days of Pilates & try to do 2-3 days of aerobic activity.

Oh, dear. Well, I attempted Week 3 of the push up challenge and got stuck. So, I all I did was Day1 of Week 3 all week. But, at least I did something! I got in all my runs — even a LITTLE bit of speed. My water consumption was not so great. I am trying really hard but, for some reason, I’ve got a huge block.

Goals for this week: Complete Week 3 of the push up challenge (again, I know!), run 4 times, do two sets of 20 squat-thrusts 3 times this week.

So I got in one good run, did some yoga at home a few times and took a number of good walks to the park and 2 walks with my mom. Not quite the same as 2 runs and a yoga class, but . . . I sure wasn’t sittin’!

I’ve already started this week out with a run with my husband, so I’m on track to make the goal this time around. :)

Well I done good last week on walking everyday during the week and I believe I stay on point but,I’ve only start walking about 2 weeks ago and the road I walk on is really hilly and I just started AGAIN on this new healthy lifestyle. I only walk 15 mins and its been so hard doing that 15!! How pathetic is that????? but,at least I’ve gotten off my tush and started moving.

This weeks goal is to walk more!!!!!!!! Even if I have to do it after work too. I’ve been getting outside with my little girl who isn’t yet 2 years old and playing with her out in the yard and running around after her. I also want to work on drinking more water this week too.
