I like to workout to hip hop or something with a definite beat so I can get into a good rhythm. Even though I don't always agree with the lyrical content some songs I like to exercise to are...
Young Dro feat. T.I. - Shoulder Lean
Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At
Bloc Party vs Fergie - Blocalicious Remix
Britney Spears - Gimme More.

The reason I don't listen to music when working out is that I'm technically illiterate! Even with an iPod, wouldn't know how in the world to get it on there! I did used to listen to my Walkman when working out, I guess tells you how long it's been since I left off!

I can't listen to music when I run. I just zone in on my thoughts and my surroundings. But, with a toddler around the house? I try to listen to fun tunes to expose my little guy to all sorts of different music. I love the Really Rosie CD (it is from the 70s) by Carole King. I also listen to a program on our local radio station (www.exit977.org) called the Peanut Butter Jam. It is on Saturday mornings and it is adult music that kids like. It is great and my son loves it!

My top 5 non-toddler-related songs that I absolutely have to have on any playlist for the treadmill or long stroller walks are (not in any particular order):
1 - Bobbin' Bouncin' - Grits
2 - Hick Chick [Dance Mix] - Cowboy Troy
3 - Bomshel Stomp - Bomshel
4 - Mississippi - Sugarland
5 - Proud - Heather Small (how can you NOT be inspired to do your best while listening to the theme song for The Biggest Loser?)

Top 5 songs that are even better because I'm John's mom:
1 - Nothin' But Cowboy Boots - Blue County
2 - Bubbly - Colbie Caillat
3 - Everything - Michael Buble (when I sing it to him I always change the line "And I can't believe, that I'm your man" to "And I can't believe you're my little man")
4 - Watching You - Rodney Atkins
5 - Never Alone - Jim Brickman featuring Lady Antebellum

Top 5 Songs to Sing/Dance To With John
1 - Sing - The Carpenters (and a Sesame Street classic!)
2 - Go Go Go - The Backyardigans
3 - ABC Gospel - Choo Choo Soul
4 - The Hairbrush Song - Veggie Tales
5 - Let's Shake - Dan Zanes
