My First Official Week in Review (July 8- Jul 14)
By Cindy | July 14, 2007
Well, I can’t say I’m completely satisfied with my progress this week. I worked out at Y once. I completed a 30 minute run/walk session on the treadmill. I walked two miles at a near-by lake trail. Of course, the walk varied in pace with two children in tow. With a friend, we navigated the paved, flat level trail at a toddler’s pace for the majority of the way. I forgot the strollers! How could I forget the strollers?! It’s great that the little ones are accustomed to walking. They made most of the walk on their own. I only had to hold little monkey about a third of the way.
Today, I worked in the garden for 30 minutes. I replanted six large Orange Crocosmia flowers.

We went to the Nashville Sounds game this evening. They were creaming the Memphis Red Birds when the babies were ready to make an exit (as well as I) at the end of the 6th inning. Walking to the stadium and back to the car and throughout the stadium to find a stand that had an operational Icee Machine with two toddlers in tow was much more exercise than I anticipated.Since I’ve started blogging about improving physical fitness, I’ve definitely seen a change in my outlook on food. As I progress through this journey, I will discuss the importance of nutrition and exercise. It is my largest weakness. I love food. I really love ice cream. The summertime has always been my favorite time to drink shakes, smoothies, and frosties. I was very good this week. I didn’t buy any shakes or Starbucks frappuccinos (another very large weakness)!
I’m excited about this journey. I signed up for the 2007 I Run For the Party 5K. I enjoy running and look forward to pursuing the training program to achieve a successful 5K!
I have lost 5 pounds since I started going to the Y a month ago. I’m going to work on officially checking the scale once a month rather than every week.

Good luck in your 5k! When is it, and how long do you have to prepare yourself for it?
Thanks Blaine,
Th 5K is Aug. 25. I’ve been training for a little over a month. I have one more month and my training plan has intensified. My goal right now is to complete the run. If I have to walk that’s okay too!
