Propel Fit Water Review
By Cindy | April 25, 2008
3 flavors of Propel Fit Water arrived for this review: Grape, Kiwi-Strawberry, and Lemonade. Before being contacted by the Gatorade Company, I had not heard about Propel Fit Water. See, I’m a water drinking fiend, but rarely hit the ready made drinks aisle. I grab the on sale 24 count bottles and bolt. There are so many tempting drinks that the kids would be begging for if I ventured down there!
I was pleasantly surprised by the full flavors and low calorie count per bottle. My little testers were estatic for the new water and drank most of mine anyway! So be careful, your little ones may have found a new favorite. Kiwi-Strawberry was my favorite.
My brother and I have an ongoing debate over the flavor of water. Is water flavorless? I believe it does have a taste. To me the taste of water is refreshing and immediate, especially after a workout or long run. However, the majority of us are running low on our water intake. Fortified with vitamins and great flavors, Propel Fit Water is another means by which we can hydrate the body. It makes a great replacement over sodas, kool-aid or artificially flavored juices. In a 20 fl. oz. bottle there are 25 calories–far below any of the competitors calorie counts for similar products.
Here are a few Hydration Facts that came with the Propel Fit Water Samples:
- In one study, nearly half of exercisers arrived to their workout inadequately hydrated.
- Research shows active people tend to replenish only about half of the fluids they lose during a workout when they drink plain water.
- Research shows exercisers who drank enough water to stay hydrated lasted an average of 33 percent longer during a workout session on a treadmill compared to when they didn’t drink any beverage during their workout.
- As little as two percent dehydration (ex. 2.5 bls of fluid lost during exercise in a 125 lb person) can reduce performance and make a workout feel harder.
With the temperatures rising, it’s also important to keep our little ones hydrated, too. This is a great alternative to the boxes of fruit juices (even 100% because of calorie content) and especially all the high sugar kid drinks on the market. Does your tongue feel dry? Are you thirsty? Your body has been dehydrated for awhile then! These are later signals of dehydration. Our body needs water. It’s the major component of almost every organ, cells, and muscles. It’s the most important nutrient for our bodies! Without it, the body shuts down quickly.
I still believe water is your best choice, but for the occasional boost in flavor or after a long strenuous workout, a vitamin fortified water is an excellent way to rehydrate your body. Gatorade may just have replaced their own sports drink. With 13 flavors available, a new calcium enriched line and powder packet options, Propel Fit Water offers variety to your water intake needs. In any case, this is a non-water drinking gal’s answer to helping chug down at least 64 ounces a day and more if you’re working out!

Yes, I think water has a taste! It’s got to taste fresh and refreshing. And I like it cool to cold. Warm water just doesn’t do it for me.
I try to stay away from drinks that are just liquid calories, but I do drink watered down cranberry juice at work sometimes. (I stick it in the freezer until it becomes slushy!)
Like you mentioned, Propel Fit flavored water might work for those who don’t like to drink plain water, but still need adequate hydration.
*giggles*

Thank You, Susan! Another check for the taste of water!
Awe, MizFit, I’m honored.
Cindi, I’ll have to try the Berry out sometime. I’m sure we’ll be grabbing a few during the hot months of summer. The kids do love them.
Hey Cindy,
Great review on Propel, I love the stuff. Also, I agree with you, I think water has a unique taste and is not flavorless!
