Reinventing the Before Shot

By Cindy | July 8, 2007

When I see before/after pictures for weight loss programs, I’m reminded of prison mug shots.  I understand that the money is in showing the most extreme results, but does the person always have to look like they’ve been miserable their whole life in their before shot?  I want people to see my better side.  I don’t need the world to see me in spandex and showing all my baby fat. The message I want to share is that we can still be proud of our bodies in our journey to achieve a healthy, fit lifestyle.  I am taking my best image and making it better.

Take a good look at your body.  Pick out the things you like about yourself.  Write down your thoughts.  Don’t lose sight of your positive attributes.  Physically, we’re on a journey to improve upon what we have and a positive outlook will reap great rewards.  Daily we use positive reinforcement on our children.  How many parenting books have you read that harps on accentuating the good and using no sparingly?  It’s hard, but we try our best to do it because we know how important it is to our child’s well-being.  Let’s apply the same principles on our own journey in fitness.

I have avoided the camera since I’ve had my last baby.  Sound familiar?  We have the token newborn (everybody understands) pictures, but after a year and a half, I am still avoiding pictures.  During special occasions, I allow a shot or two.  As positive as I am being, this is a difficult post to continue.  I’m testing an idea not yet complete.  My journey has just begun. I don’t have an after photo to share.  I’m sharing a part of my life that has not yet yielded results.  My ups and downs will be released within this blog in real time.

So without further ado, I present My Before Shots:

Front ViewFront Shot    Side Shot  Side Shot

Want to join me?  Dress up, put on some makeup, and fix your hair.  Take a couple of pictures.  Post them in the comments.  If I get a huge following, I’ll make a separate page with all the wonderful pictures of the women pursuing their own journey in fitness.

Have fun posing, then Go Workout Mom!
