Simple Abs Workout

By Cindy | August 1, 2007

Real Women’s Fitness wrote a great series on abs called All About Abs. RT focuses on the size and development of the muscle, rectus abdominis, commonly referred to as Abs. She introduces three exercises to begin a workout to maximize your effort and time. The wonderful thing about abs is that the time needed to devote to their improvement can be done in as little as 10 to 15 minutes a day. For a mom, this is perfect. With a towel, mat or carpeted room, your ab workout can be done while the children play, sleep, and crawl. RT delves into the basics which are the true foundation of an effective ab workout. She points out, “Women need to recognize that abs development is a delicate balance of resistance exercises, cardio and diet. Without all three progress is slow.” I hope you enjoy this series. It’s an excellent tool and starting routine for abs.

Having had three children by c-section, you can imagine the toll it takes on your stomach muscles. Tightening the stomach muscles after a c-section (or multiple c-sections) is almost impossible, or so I thought. The reverse crunch talked about in part 2 of the series is one I found to work best at toning the lower muscles on the stomach. Great series, thanks!

i just love abs. don’t give up :P in general, it is much harder for women to “tone up” then men, its just because their bodies are more anatomically advantageous :(
