Week 17: Halloween and Workouts Missed, Oct. 28- Nov. 3

By Cindy | November 7, 2007

Well, there is no beating around the bush. I worked out twice this week, and I have no one to blame but myself. I allowed stuff to get in the way that wasn’t as important as the workouts. I let frustrations and negative thoughts run around in my head for the majority of the week. It was one of those weeks in which I really wondered if the decision to stay home is the one for me. I have these every so often. A good friend from the Navy visited for a Women’s Engineering Conference. She’ll be getting out in a few months, and she was given an opportunity to network and meet new companies. In some ways, I really wanted to be in her shoes. I started reading The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris this week. I like the concept and ideas he’s presenting. I like how I can also apply much of his philosophy to a Stay-At-Home Mom’s Lifestyle. I’ve come back around to loving my world, but it sure did make a dent in workouts. Fortunately, I ate fairly well and came away from the week with a steady scale reading.

Here’s what I was able to accomplish:

Tuesday: At-Home Barbell Strength Training

  • Tricep Extensions (3 sets/12 reps)
  • Squats (3 sets/ 12 reps)
  • Lateral Raises (3 sets/12 reps)
  • Jumping Lunges (3 sets/12 reps)
  • Bicep Curls (3 sets/12 reps)
  • Calf Raises
  • Standing Side Bends (3 sets/12 reps each side)

Wednesday: Halloween Fun. We attended a few parties, but didn’t get to walk the neighborhood. I missed the great evening walk. Our neighborhood is full of life on Halloween. The weather was awesome too!

Thursday: The Four Minute Workout of Death:I was inspired by Scott at The Fit Club to do a Tabata Protocol workout. Plus it’s fast and I was finished in 15 minutes once I incorporated some ab work and stretches.

Hello Scott,

The Tabatas were good. Challenging, but short-lived. A great use of time when I don’t have as much to commit.
