Week 2: Where Does the Time Go? Jan. 6-12

By Cindy | January 15, 2008

The time flew by this week. I got caught up working on the new features of setting up the EBook and Newsletter. The E-Book is finished! It’s been on my plate for close to three months and it’s nice to complete the project. I hope you enjoy it. I know my husband is happy to get a free moment into the computer. The last three weeks I snatched up the computer and hardly let him get a glimpse into cyberspace! He has been wonderful watching the little ones and keeping his grumbling to a minimum.

As for the workouts this week, I was not as dedicated as the first week. I completed three solid workouts and dropped a pound and a half. I broke the 170s barrier. Very exciting for me. Haven’t been there for a long time.

Sunday, Monday, and Saturday: Nothing. I can’t even say that I cleaned the house. Seriously, I hadn’t sat at a desk like this since I was pushing papers for the Navy.

Tuesday: I completed the Home Circuit Workout Training with a combination of high knee and butt kick running. I did three cycles and maintained a 60-70% target heart rate. For the arms and legs routines I added ankle weights (5lb a leg) and used dumbbells (5lb-12lb weights). I watched Dance War Online while doing the workout. It was great.

Did anyone see Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann last night. I thought it was awesome how Bruno and Carrie Ann picked the teams old school style. Of course, I felt really bad for the two that were left. They had such great composure though. It was nice to not see them falling apart. The performances were great for the kids only being together for a couple of weeks. I love everything and anything that has to do with dancing!

Wednesday: I ran 3 miles on the Greenways in just over 25 minutes. It took me about ten minutes to get past my “why am I doing this” moment. The beginning is the hardest part for me. My body wants to stop. Mentally, I know if I pass that initial threshold of dread, then I start feeling great.

Thursday: I ran 2 miles run on Treadmill with a friend. I’m not sure the folks around our treadmills were excited to hear about our kids, the depressing news flashing on the tv’s and our random conversation topics, but we tried to keep our chatter down to a low buzz. Afterwards, I completed 15 minutes of ab work.

Friday: I’m learning how to use the Balance ball and worked through 15 minutes of abdominal and lower back work. The exercises look easy, but my muscles quickly remind me that they hadn’t expected this kind of treatment.

Food-wise, I’ve done fairly well. Food Group tracking keeps me focused and aware of the balancing act needed to be healthy. I’ve slipped a little with water consumption, but I got at least 5 days with 8 glasses. The other days bordered on 6 and 7. I indulged in a doughnut and a couple of nights of ice cream.

I’m having fun meeting everyone in the Healthy You Challenges. I’m trying to visit at least once a week. It’s great to see the support and encouragement of all these great journeys. I’m off to chase some kiddos and tackle the housework! Auggh…

Hi Cindy! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I am very happy to meet you :) To answer your questions, I am working toward my ACE PT certification. That is the one my PT at the Y told me to get. I am excited to start and have no idea what I will do once I pass the test. I guess I will try to get some practical experience so I can go it alone if I want to. I hope you have a fantastic week!!

I also didn’t do all the workouts I should have, but I now sit on my Balance ball when at the computer. It’s quite something!

Hi Tammy, Great! I had my first informal session yesterday with a family friend. It was exciting and informative. I know what I need to work on when I start discussing their body and the specific exercises.

Hi Hanlie, The balance ball is great for a small workout at the computer. It would be good to implement at least sometime into the day. Now, if I can only get it out of my little ones’ hands. They love rolling it around the house everywhere.

I love reading about your workouts. I love that moment when you get past the “why am I doing this” and the great feeling kicks in, it makes it all worth while.
