Week 21: Traveling to Texas, Nov. 25-Dec. 1
By Cindy | December 4, 2007
What a crazy week. I’ve spent most of the time preparing for a 15+ hour drive with toddlers. At the last minute, we found out that Ryan was not going to be able to make the trip. I downloaded stories (Storynory has a great collection of short stories for children, all free), made treat bags filled with different snacks and fruits to “surprise” Asher and Stephanie along the way. I am now in Texas after an uneventful drive. They were superb. The trip ended up begin a little over 16 hours. We stopped at Chuck-E-Cheese, Chick-fil-a and spent a night at the hotel. The second day we only had to stop for about 30 minutes. The Laptop was a savior for DVD viewing. They actually only watched 3 shows the first day and 2 shows the second day. They were so excited to see Grandma and Grandpa Apple.
Sunday: 50 minute Kathy Smith Aerobox Video. This is my favorite workout video. I have put off doing it because it is a very high intensity workout. I knew that I was ready to give it a try and I am so glad I waited. I felt great finishing the program which is challenging and high paced.
Monday: I ran 2.5 miles on the Treadmill. It was raining. I couldn’t go outside to run! Augghhh. The run took 25 minutes on a 1.0 incline. I also completed a full body strength training routine (1set of 12 reps each):
Lower Back Extension 95lb
Leg Press 200lb
Hip abductor 100lb
Hip Adductor 55 lb
Prone Leg Curl 55 lb
Leg extension 80 lb
Compound Row 55 lb
Overhead Press 55lb
Lateral Raise 55lb
Tricep Extension 25lb
Preacher Curl 35lb
Incline Press 40lb
Incline abdominal sit ups 25
Incline oblique situps (side to side) 24
Tuesday and Wednesday went by so fast with errands and packing. I completed crunches, squats and lunges in the evening.
Thursday and Friday were spent on the road. Chuck-E-Cheese proved to be my lone source of movement. I completed squats, plie squats, standing leg lifts/presses and lunges.
Saturday: 50 squats, 3 sets of abdominal exercises (V-Situps, crunches, lower ab lifts). 4 minute Tibata Interval Training. Speed Jogging in Place.
My computer time is limited while traveling. My parent’s don’t have a computer connection and I’m limited to short visits to the library. Welcome to the start of the Christmas Season.

omigosh…a 15+ hour trip with 2 toddlers sounds like a workout to me!! Good for you for getting those squats and lunges done, especially at Chuck E Cheese!!
Thanks Workout Mommy. It really was less stress than a typical day in the house. I received the package, well, Ryan did. I look forward to trying the video.
