Week 6 in Review: Aug.12-18

By Cindy | August 23, 2007

I feel short of my basic physical goals this week. The time flew by and before I knew it, a day would be gone. I always had plans to get moving and workout. Well, here’s what I was able to accomplish:

Strength Training: 1 workout of 8 exercises 3 sets with 12 reps. I focused on large muscle group exercises: leg press, squats, leg extension, lat pull, vertical press, front press, tricep bar press, lower back extension and abdominal lifts.

Cardiovascular: 1 walking routine for 1 hour. 1 run/walk combination on the treadmill for 35 minutes.

Nutritional: My largest improvement by far has been incorporating more healthy food options into our (family included) diet. I made less trips to fast food joints in my running of errands and to playgroups. Sashimi grade tuna was on sale at Harris Teeter, so we go to enjoy a great sushi dinner at home. I did not snack on ice cream every day! Plus I got a lower fat ice cream and Italian Ices to help satisfy that sweet tooth.

The heat has been sweltering here. We’ve had 26 days straight of over 95 degree weather. Most of the days have been over 100 close to 105. The 5K I signed up for was suppose to be August 25, but they have moved the date to September 22. I get another month to train! Yippee.
