Why This Blog? A Mom’s Perspective.

By Cindy | July 4, 2007

A baby changes our life.  Our outlook, expectations, desires and lifestyle center around the soft cuddly bundle in our arms.  Our universe becomes theirs.  In a period of months, our personal interests vanish.  We live and breathe baby milestones.  All our energy is pumped into the nursery decor, how to hold baby, and baby proofing everything in the home even though we know the baby’s not mobile for another six or seven months after birth.   When baby arrives, we’re consumed by the vicious two hour feeding cycles (day and night), learning what every cry means, and how we’re going to survive another day, let alone eighteen more years.  That being said, this is not a blog about babies.  It’s about US.  We focus so much on our babies and lose focus on our physical well-being.

I am here to use myself as an example.  I don’t believe I’m alone in this venture, and I hope to find like-minded women.  I want to bring balance to my child-rearing days and personal fitness.

For three years, my physical fitness has not been on my priority list.  The family and all the responsibilities of running a household came first.  I need to change my outlook. This blog is my first step toward implementing the shift from Mommy-only mode to Mommy-Fit Mode.  I want to share my love for children and fitness.  The two can co-exist even when we think they can’t.

I hope by sharing my personal journey with you, that I may help guide you through your journey as well.  Mothers are very resourceful.  Together we are shaping our future, not just our children’s futures.

Wonderful goal.. to be fit. It will help you run after your child. I have had five children and the youngest is seventeen. I am still trying to get fit. I walked two miles today – not much, but better than sitting and doing nothing. I wish you all the best in maintaining your fitness routines.
