Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss Review

By Cindy | November 25, 2007

Video Details:

  • Short Introduction provided by Suzanne Deason
  • The four ladies demonstrate different variations on the poses to accomodate different levels of fitness
  • 10 minute warm up
  • 35 minute “Active Yoga Conditioning”
  • 14 to 15 minute cool down
  • Produced by Livingarts

Suzanne Deason provides a calming voice and focused instructions throughout the video. She’s concise and illustrates each pose and the different variations. The music is soothing and the setting is gorgeous. Yoga is challenging, but Suzanne simplifies the process and keeps you in tune with the moment. When I began to wander in my thoughts, she was providing instructions to focus on breathing and remain centered. The use of weight loss as part of the main title is a bit off the mark, but with a dedicated focus on your eating habits and movement in other areas of your life, yoga will contribute to your overall fitness journey. I actually own the VHS version. The DVD has a neat feature were you can focus on the lady of your skill level. For the beginner that I am when it comes to Yoga, I feel great at the end of the video, challenged, and ready to continue on with the day.

I started yoga about ten years ago, then stopped for a while. After having my son, I started up again at a local club. But one of the best ways to train for me is to perform the sun salutation. It is something that you can do whenever you find 10 minutes to spare, and included many of the standard postures. This yoga helps to tone, but for weight loss I think you need to look at your diet first.
